ASCII character codes for MS Windows

ASCII stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange and it is the numerical representation of a character. The symbol can be created by pressing and holding ALT key and typing 0 followed by decimal number.

decimal number = rowcolumn

For example, the charcode for Å is 0197, so you just press and hold the ALT key and at the same time type 0197 on your numeric keypad (see picture at the end of this page).

Alternatively, you can simply highlight the character you wish to use, copy it to the clipboard, and paste it into any document created under MS Windows.

On some laptop computers, the Num Lock key is used to activate numeric keypad. On other computers, it is a key combination fn + num lk.
